We are actively hiring a Senior Field Engineer with TS/SCI clearance and polygraph to join our Mission Technology and Solutions Business Unit, working in Chantilly, VA. Approximately 30-40% CONUS travel will be required for this position. The Senior Field Engineer will deploy, install, and maintain servers, routers, edge switches, telecommunications systems, UPS systems, and desktop PC hardware in support of customer operations. This is a fast-paced program that requires someone who works well in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field; or if no degree, 8-10 years of related experience performing engineering functions on programs of similar size, scope, and complexity.
  • 8+ years as an engineer supporting technical programs
  • Experience in IP Related Services: TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, PPP, and SIP
  • Experience installing and maintaining Cisco routers and switches
  • Experience with commercial PBX and associated telephones, VOIP/data telephony
  • Experience with UPS systems and AC/DC power systems, to include installation/connection
  • Working knowledge of CAT 5 and CAT 6 cable, connectors, and demonstrated capability of fabricating required equipment
  • Experience working with SONET rings and associated hardware
  • Experience using Remedy, VISIO, and MS Office
  • Current TS/SCI with Poly is required.

Responsibilities

  • Procedural input to the planning, preparation, and execution of all projects.
  • Technical direction, leadership, and training of less experienced staff.
  • Completing complex assignments without direction and directing more junior engineers.
  • Ensuring systems are implemented in a tight time frame and within budget.
  • Evaluating data centers for the installation of equipment.
  • Installing applicable equipment (with racks if needed).
  • Performing onsite testing of equipment and coordinating with other engineers.
  • Installing and connecting applicable cables.
  • Coordinating pick-up and delivery of equipment.
  • Troubleshooting network connectivity issues.
  • Adding/removing physical connectivity to various networks for users.
  • Performing physical setup and configuration of desktop hardware and software to include external peripherals.
  • Developing solutions to technical issues with hardware and software in multiple areas or disciplines.
  • Building workstations per established procedures.
  • Providing software and hardware support.
