About The Position

Responsible for providing engineering/technical support to Production, Marketing and Quality Control departments in all areas of the production supply chain. Focus areas include all packaging materials, equipment, products, distribution and procedural practices to accomplish these tasks. Primary responsibilities include: new product development, product costing, establishing standards and specifications, process innovation, cost reduction initiatives, quality improvement projects, and equipment qualifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering.
  • Project management skills to coordinate multiple cross-functional efforts in given timeline.
  • Excellent mechanical ability with understanding of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Knowledge of components: product/material interaction/compatibility, quality testing of components and functionality of container closure system, sourcing of suppliers, brokers, sustainability and life cycle of materials.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and project management skills with the ability to work with internal and external customers and suppliers on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience developing and maintaining project timelines and budgets
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams.
  • Ability to provide creative and technical expertise to Marketing and Manufacturing
  • Ability to travel within North America when required
  • PC skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and ability to use enterprise software systems such as JD Edwards.

  • 0-2 years’ experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry, preferably OTC pharma. (Level I)
  • 2-4 years’ experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry, preferably OTC pharma. (Level II)
  • 4-6 years’ experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry, preferably OTC pharma. (Level III)
  • 6-8 years’ experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry, preferably OTC pharma. (Level IV)

Responsibilities

  • Plans/develops primary, secondary and tertiary packaging and shipping/distribution containers for products in response to customer quality, Marketing requirements, working with dimensional tolerance, copy control, material compatibility/specifications and standards. Sustainability is also an element to be considered.
  • Responsible for developing new product costing (Purple Sheet process) and line standards with respect to Lean manufacturing, material, batch sizes, sales volume, production and labor rates.
  • Cost saving projects relating to material purchases, labor efficiencies, and overhead reduction (admin process improvement)
  • Champion/Owner of New Product Development Gantt charts and timeline.
  • Represent Operations group at cross functional meetings and communicated Gantt chart revisions in a timely manner
  • Operations management special projects such as Lean Initiatives.
  • Plans and directs process of obtaining equipment and tooling for new products.
  • Capital approval authorization and qualification documentation along with vendor coordination, timely delivery and functionality of change over parts.
  • Considers workflow, layout, and safety measures when designing industrial plants and facilities.
  • Coordinates quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.
  • Applies engineering techniques to design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination.
