Senior Engineering Manager, DC Buying

Afresh•San Francisco, CA

About The Position

Afresh is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead engineering for its AI-powered DC Buying product, which helps grocery distribution center buyers decide what to order, how much to order, and when. The product is live with enterprise customers and scaling quickly. The manager owns engineering end to end and partners with product, design, data engineering, and applied science on a shared roadmap, while working directly with customers to ensure the product supports buyers’ daily work. The role combines engineering leadership, roadmap ownership, technical direction, and dependable execution. The manager hires and develops a senior team of product engineers, sets technical standards, and builds close working relationships with engineering peers across platform, data, and AI. They balance customer requests, technical investment, and business goals; turn broad objectives into scoped plans and clear commitments; and maintain reliability, healthy on-call practices, and data quality. The role also fosters a culture in which engineers and scientists own problems and collaborate early with customers, product, and design. Afresh is an AI platform company focused on grocery and reducing food waste. Its products support grocers across the enterprise, and the company says its platform prevented more than 200 million pounds of food waste in the prior year. The position is not eligible for company sponsorship. The stated U.S. salary band is $203,745–$275,655, plus equity and benefits. Many employees work remotely, provided they reside in one of the listed states.
