About The Position

Afresh is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead engineering for its AI-powered DC Buying product, which helps grocery distribution center buyers decide what to buy, how much, and when. The product is live with enterprise customers and scaling quickly. The manager will own engineering end to end and partner with product, design, data engineering, and applied science on a shared roadmap, while working directly with customers to ensure the product supports buyers’ daily work. The role includes leading and developing a senior team of product engineers, setting technical direction, owning the DC Buying roadmap, and delivering reliable, high-quality product outcomes. The manager will make commitments and plans clear, keep leadership and partner teams informed, and build a culture in which engineers and scientists own problems and collaborate early with customers and cross-functional partners. The position is not eligible for company sponsorship.

  • Technical range and experience leading across multiple functional domains, including front end, back end, data pipelines, and applied science.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and managing team performance, and building a culture where engineers own problems rather than tickets.
  • Clear, direct communication with stakeholders, executives, and customers.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and growth-stage pressure, including quickly replanning when customer or business priorities change without destabilizing the team.
  • Use of AI-native development practices and interest in keeping the team at the leading edge of them.

  • Own the DC Buying roadmap with product, design, and science leads, balancing customer needs, technical investment, and business goals.
  • Understand users, business priorities, key metrics, and ways to delight customers.
  • Make clear commitments to internal stakeholders and customers, deliver on them, and communicate early when plans may slip.
  • Translate broad goals into scoped plans with sequencing, cost, and dates.
  • Keep leadership and partner teams informed and drive decisions to clarity.
  • Own product reliability, on-call health, and data quality.
  • Build a culture in which engineers and scientists own problems and engage early with customers, product, and design.
  • Develop innovative products that delight DC buyers and create significant customer impact.
