[US DC] Manager, Reliability Engineering
About The Position
The Manager, Reliability Engineering works with maintenance and reliability staff, including planners/schedulers, inventory specialists, technicians, and industrial refrigeration technicians, for assigned buildings. The manager takes direct ownership of maintenance projects involving life cycle assessments and equipment changeouts, including utility expansions or modifications, new equipment installation in coordination with engineering, and refrigeration system projects. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on engaging, motivating, and coaching team members. In partnership with the MRE senior leadership team, the manager defines, develops, and delivers the facilities maintenance roadmap and sets the standard for operational efficiency at the fulfillment center.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience managing facilities maintenance/operations and reliability within the food, beverage, perishables, or distribution industry.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- High level of integrity and ethics, with excellent follow-through.
- Effective communication with employees, direct reports, cross-functional teams, and senior leadership.
- Well versed in OSHA regulations and compliance.
- Exposure to mechanical, electrical, automation, and refrigeration systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and schematics.
- Comfortable working in cold environments, including facility areas at 40°F.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and/or nights.
- Interest in spending most of the time on the shop floor and working directly with staff at all levels.
- Excitement for working in a startup environment with a high level of ambiguity and change.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- OSHA certification is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coach the reliability team, building a culture where people give feedback and drive change from within.
- Motivate, engage, coach, and inspire reliability team members and foster a positive team dynamic that encourages feedback and change.
- Manage outside vendors for reliability projects and pursue root-cause analysis.
- Ensure maintenance regulations are followed.
- Maintain a current list of asset contractors so M&RE emergency repairs are handled in a timely manner.
- Identify problems, develop root-cause analyses, and brainstorm improvement ideas for the fulfillment center.
- Own maintenance projects involving life cycle assessments and changeouts, including utility expansions or modifications, new equipment installation in coordination with engineering, and refrigeration system projects.
- Partner with MRE senior leadership to define, develop, and deliver the facilities maintenance roadmap and operational efficiency standards.
