About The Position

AeroVironment is seeking a Senior Engineer - M&S to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Systems Engineering Enterprise Ground Test Assessment and Verification Directorate (MDA/SEQ). The role leads a functional team of engineers and analysts in solving complex problems, establishing policies and procedures, and accrediting a federation of models and simulations for their intended use by MDA, the Operational Test Agency Team, Combatant Commanders, and the Director, Operational Test & Evaluation. The work supports combined developmental and operational testing of the Missile Defense System. The Senior Engineer provides senior technical and project management, coordinates across MDA program organizations and Service Component program offices and test agencies, and advises Government customers on complex projects. The position manages test event schedules and deliverables, supports engineering and analysis teams in producing timely technical products, assesses plans and reports, identifies and mitigates risks, and keeps leadership informed. It also reviews and improves processes and products and develops Programs of Action and Milestones to address known model limitations. The position requires a master's degree in a STEM field, at least 12 years of experience, and an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance. Applicants must have deep expertise in the Missile Defense System, systems engineering, test and evaluation, risk management, modeling and simulation, and M&S verification, validation, and accreditation. ITAR and/or EAR compliance requires documentation verifying U.S. person status; some positions may require current U.S. citizenship due to contract requirements.

Requirements

Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field.
12 or more years of experience.
Active Secret clearance and ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
Specialized depth and breadth of expertise and knowledge of the Missile Defense System (MDS), Systems Engineering (SE), Test and Evaluation (T&E), and Risk Management principles.
Demonstrated experience in modeling and simulation (M&S), and M&S verification, validation, and accreditation (VV&A) policy, processes, and best practices.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Outstanding interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated experience developing information and decision briefings and writing technical reports.
Self-starter with initiative and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with ambiguous requirements and direction when necessary.
Provide documentation to verify U.S. person status for ITAR and/or EAR compliance; some positions require current U.S. citizenship due to contract requirements.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a Project Officer supporting DoD flag/general officer staff.
Knowledge of the DoD Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process.

Responsibilities

Provide senior technical and project management.
