About The Position

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Senior Multi-Domain Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Engineer to support USAFWC exercises at Nellis AFB, Nevada. The role operates in a fast-paced, dynamic, multitasking environment supporting USAF Warfare Center Large Force Exercises, Operational Test, and Tactics Development. The engineer will support planning and execution of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), Combatant Command (COCOM), and Major Command (MAJCOM) exercises and events. The engineer evaluates complex defense architectures across air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains using tools such as AFSIM, STK, and SOAP. The primary focus is developing multi-domain system models in AFSIM and evaluating their behavior to provide mission-level decision support, inform military strategies, and develop solutions. The position is onsite, and routine travel is expected—approximately one week per quarter. Non-traditional work hours may be required. A current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility, and the ability to obtain access to SAR programs and STO, are required. U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements

  • 5 to 10+ years of experience working with defense systems, aerospace engineering, or military operations analysis.
  • 7+ years of experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis, preferably using AFSIM.
  • Deep understanding of military operations at the mission or campaign level.
  • Department of Defense program experience.
  • Experience with multi-domain scenario development, friendly (U.S. and Coalition) and enemy Order of Battle, and ingestion or digitization of scenarios into M&S systems.
  • Hands-on proficiency with M&S frameworks such as AFSIM, STK, or SOAP, and data analysis scripting with Python or MATLAB.
  • Expertise in modeling military systems and their behaviors across multiple domains.
  • Associate degree with 9+ years of experience, bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience, or master's degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Current Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and ability to obtain access to SAR programs and STO.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • STEM degree preferred.
  • Experience with AFSIM is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop models of multi-domain systems and software for mission-level simulations using AFSIM.
  • Create models of air, ground, maritime, and space systems; evaluate and validate models.
  • Build realistic threat trajectories, target behaviors, and engagement scenarios for missile warning, tracking, and defense systems.
  • Write assessment and analysis scripts using programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, C++, or Java.
  • Apply object-oriented programming to support scalability and extensibility of the M&S environment.
  • Document model development processes, results, and best practices for knowledge sharing.
  • Stay current with AFSIM advancements.
  • Analyze simulation results and communicate system and software effectiveness in real-world contexts.
  • Run simulations to analyze sensor performance, weapon capabilities, and mission-level outcomes in support of military force design.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, software engineers, and analysts to improve Operational Analysis productivity.
  • Assist in creating technical documentation and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Translate technical simulation data into decision-quality briefs for senior defense leaders.
  • Work independently and effectively as part of a team.
  • Support planning and execution of CJCS, COCOM, and MAJCOM-level exercises and events.
