Senior Engineer, Dexterous End-Effector Design

Maven Robotics•Santa Clara, CA

About The Position

Maven Robotics designs, builds, and deploys intelligent robotics for logistics and manufacturing, with the goal of developing a general-purpose robotics system for industrial work. The company builds robots for complex physical environments and rigorous commercial standards, aiming to deliver immediate impact, industrial-grade reliability, and scalable intelligence. The Senior Engineer, Dexterous End-Effector Design will own the full product development cycle for dexterous manipulation end-effectors, from overall architecture through component selection and detailed design. The role involves developing end-effector concepts and manipulation system architectures, working across technical and business teams to define requirements, evaluating existing hardware, and supporting robotic hardware assembly, integration, and testing.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience developing high-performance robotic systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, robotics, mechatronics, or a similar field.
  • Experience designing and developing dexterous manipulation systems.
  • Experience with electromechanical integration, including motors, sensors, servo drives, speed reducers, electronics packaging, and wiring.
  • Self-starter attitude and the ability to identify and prioritize problems, then plan and execute working solutions.
  • Enthusiasm for a fast-paced startup environment and eagerness to support the team across a variety of topics.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or PhD in mechanical engineering, robotics, mechatronics, or a similar field.
  • At least 5 years of experience specifically developing high-degree-of-freedom dexterous end-effector systems.
  • Experience designing and scaling complex products for mass production.

Responsibilities

  • Brainstorm and prototype concepts for dexterous end-effectors, from simple two-fingered grippers to multi-fingered humanoid hands.
  • Collaborate with business development, simulation, controls, software, testing, and industrial design teams to define use cases, performance requirements, and packaging.
  • Develop high-level strategies and system architectures for dexterous manipulation systems, including end-effectors, tele-operation training systems, and data-collection devices.
  • Test and evaluate existing grippers, end-effectors, sensors, and data-collection devices.
  • Support assembly, integration, and testing of robotic hardware.
  • Own the product development cycle for dexterous manipulation end-effectors, from architecture through component selection and detailed design.
