About The Position

Cohere Health is seeking a Senior Director, Solutions Architecture to lead the Solution Architects within its PaaS Delivery organization. This player-coach role sets technical and business standards for designing solutions for complex healthcare clients operating large, mission-critical platforms, including claims systems and utilization management infrastructure. The role partners with Solution Owners, Forward Deployed Engineers, Technical Program Managers, Platform Configuration, and QA to keep solution design aligned with delivery. This is a remote-first role, with about 10% travel. Travel to Boston, Massachusetts may be required for new-hire onboarding and occasional in-person team meetings and company events.

Requirements

  • 15 or more years of experience in solution architecture, technical consulting, or similar client-facing technical roles, including significant healthcare experience.
  • Five or more years of direct management experience leading a technical team, such as solution architects, FDEs, or technical consultants.
  • Familiarity with large, complex platforms, such as claims systems, utilization or care management platforms, or similarly mission-critical enterprise systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and make decisions in ambiguous, fast-changing environments without waiting for perfect information.
  • Strong technical judgment and people leadership, including the ability to investigate difficult technical problems and coach direct reports through challenging conversations.
  • Credibility with client executives, including the ability to deliver difficult messages when a solution cannot meet expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep experience with payer operations, utilization management, or prior authorization.
  • Experience with FHIR-based integration, including Da Vinci standards, as well as legacy payer integration patterns.
  • Experience scaling a technical team through rapid company growth.
  • Experience presenting to and influencing client executive stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of eight Solution Architects, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Own the solution architecture operating model and capacity plan, including determining the number and skills of architects needed and assigning work across a growing implementation portfolio.
  • Set standards for solution design quality, including guiding clients toward existing functionality, documenting BRDs and FRDs, and designing future-state workflows.
  • Foster a customer-focused culture that seeks workable solutions while constructively pushing back when needed.
  • Own escalations when solution designs are contested, technically infeasible, or in tension with commercial commitments.
  • Balance workloads and account assignments as new implementations ramp up.
  • Partner with Solution Owners, FDEs, Platform Configuration, QA, and TPMs across Delivery to align solution design with delivery timelines.
  • Represent Solution Architecture in cross-functional planning and with client executive stakeholders on complex or escalated accounts.
  • Develop reusable training materials, templates, and playbooks to ensure solution quality does not depend on any one architect.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
  • Employee Assistance Program.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Flexible spending account and health savings account.
  • Flex Time Off and company holidays.
  • Up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave.
  • Pet insurance.
  • Bonus included as part of the total benefits package.
