About The Position

The Senior Director, PR & External Communications is a strategic executive leader responsible for defining and driving the organization's enterprise brand reputation, AI-augmented media strategy, multi-channel communications architecture, and all external communications. This role transitions the function from tactical execution to a data-driven power engine—leveraging generative AI, predictive sentiment analytics, and advanced social listening tools to elevate market share, establish category leadership, and safeguard corporate reputation. Managing cross-functional agency partners and high-performing teams, the Senior Director aligns global storytelling with executive vision, product innovation, and business growth.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in PR, corporate communications, and brand reputation management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related business field
  • High-growth B2B, healthcare, or enterprise technology industry background required.
  • Proven track record of operating at a Director or Senior Director level, driving strategy for global or multi-market organizations.
  • Strong command of modern PR and Marketing technology stacks, including AI-driven PR tools (e.g., Brandwatch, Meltwater, Sprout Social, ChatGPT/Enterprise AI prompt tools, SEMrush, Google Analytics 4, Cision, BuzzSumo).
  • Mastered expertise in crisis communication, risk mitigation, and rapid-response media operations.
  • Experience architecting data-backed social selling, thought leadership, and employee advocacy frameworks that directly support commercial growth.
  • Exceptional executive presence with experience pitching to, coaching, and representing C-suite leadership.
  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated experience managing seven-figure PR budgets and leading multi-agency partner networks.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 25%

Responsibilities

  • Architect and execute a comprehensive global PR, executive communications, and corporate reputation strategy aligned with enterprise revenue and market positioning goals.
  • Serve as a core strategic advisor to the CMO, C-suite, and board on crisis management, enterprise positioning, media relations, and key industry narratives.
  • Lead corporate crisis communications and dynamic response protocols using real-time media monitoring and predictive risk management models.
  • Lead a robust Analyst Relations program, cultivating strategic relationships with key industry analysts (e.g., KLAS, Frost & Sullivan, Forrester) to influence market positioning.
  • Select and manage a top-tier PR agency with the goal of obtaining earned coverage in tier 1, 2, and 3 level publications.
  • Develop strong and differentiated PR strategies in collaboration with the agency.
  • Modernize media operations by integrating AI tools and data analytics for hyper-targeted journalist outreach, press release optimization, audience sentiment analysis, and trend forecasting.
  • Direct agency partners, vendors, and internal teams to deliver high-impact media placements across digital, broadcast, and print channels.
  • Oversee executive thought leadership programs, securing top-tier keynote opportunities, podcast features, and strategic panel seats for senior executives.
  • Drive employee advocacy, modern social selling, and executive LinkedIn strategies, equipping global teams with AI-assisted content engines to amplify corporate initiatives.
  • Partner with the digital marketing team to strategically integrate PR initiatives with SEO, digital content, third-party evaluation portals (e.g., Software Advice), and web properties to enhance inbound engagement and domain authority.
  • Define and execute ModMed’s corporate social media strategy to drive engagement and brand awareness across multiple social media channels, including LinkedIN, Reddit, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
  • Partner closely with the internal enterprise communications team to build a unified communication strategy, employee engagement programs, and a global culture.
  • Direct the global customer reference and success story programs to amplify customer impact and drive sales enablement.
  • Oversee the strategy and execution of the annual customer HERO awards program, presented at the user conference.
  • Manage the global PR and Communications budget, optimizing resource allocation between technology stacks, external agencies, and internal operations.
  • Establish modern PR metrics beyond traditional impressions, utilizing attribution modeling, share of voice (SOV), domain authority impact, brand sentiment, and full-funnel conversion metrics to demonstrate ROI to leadership.
  • Manage a team of six internal employees and oversee partnerships with several external agencies.
