About The Position

The Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics, Metabolism and Bioanalytics (PDMB) group is seeking a strategic, collaborative Senior Director to support protein therapeutic efforts from discovery through candidate selection and into first-in-human trials. Based at the company’s research labs in Boston, Massachusetts, this senior leader will provide scientific and operational oversight for pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and bioanalytical activities for protein therapeutic candidates, including bispecific antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, fusion proteins, and emerging modalities. The role supports protein therapeutics in immunology and oncology, with potential contributions to other modalities and therapeutic areas. The Senior Director will lead a multi-tiered group of principal investigators, subject matter experts, scientists, and managers. The position collaborates with discovery biologics, nonclinical drug safety, translational medicine, therapeutic-area colleagues, and project teams in Boston, South San Francisco, and West Point to develop effective strategies for identifying and optimizing candidates, from early discovery through IND submission and beyond.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, protein engineering, molecular biology, bioengineering, or a related STEM field, with 7 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience demonstrating increasing responsibility and independence in a similar industrial or academic setting.
  • Demonstrated experience leading protein therapeutic discovery efforts as a group leader or independent project-team representative in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Strong understanding of protein therapeutic bioanalysis, ADME, FcRn biology, target-mediated drug disposition (TMDD), and immunogenicity concepts for modalities such as monoclonal antibodies or engineered bispecifics.
  • Proven track record managing scientists and leading cross-functional teams in a drug discovery or development setting.
  • Experience contributing to the development and execution of translational PK/PD efficacy relationships, human dose predictions, and other quantitative pharmacology applications in a discovery setting.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, with the ability to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience performing or interpreting data from translational PK/PD/efficacy or physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models, such as Phoenix WinNonlin, Berkeley Madonna, or MATLAB.
  • Track record supporting immunology- or oncology-based programs, with experience spanning early discovery through IND-enabling efforts.
  • Expertise designing and troubleshooting ligand-binding assays or hybrid LC/MS assays for detecting and quantitating protein therapeutics in various matrices in a non-GLP setting.
  • Experience working within a research-driven pharmaceutical company.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design and interpretation of pharmacokinetic, immunogenicity, and ADME studies for protein therapeutics across disease indications and therapeutic areas.
  • Mentor and manage a multi-tiered team of PDMB scientists and managers supporting protein therapeutic optimization, including pharmacokinetics, distribution, translational strategy, and discovery bioanalytics.
  • Design, implement, and analyze in vitro and in vivo studies to understand how drug disposition affects disease biology, pharmacological response (PK/PD), and safety.
  • Contribute to global PDMB strategy by collaborating with project teams in Boston, South San Francisco, and West Point to build efficient strategies for identifying and optimizing protein therapeutic candidates.
  • Contribute to protein therapeutic efforts from discovery through candidate selection and into first-in-human trials.
  • Provide scientific and operational oversight of PK/PD and bioanalytical activities related to protein therapeutic drug candidates.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision healthcare benefits and other insurance benefits for employees and family.
  • Retirement benefits, including 401(k).
  • Paid holidays, vacation, compassionate days, and sick days.
  • Eligible for an annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
  • Domestic relocation.
