About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Director of Operations to lead and oversee all operational functions for a large-scale EMS transportation organization. This executive leadership role is responsible for full operational oversight, financial performance, service excellence, regulatory compliance, workforce leadership, and strategic growth initiatives across multiple regions and service lines. The Senior Director of Operations will provide enterprise-level leadership for all aspects of EMS transportation operations, including P&L management, operational efficiency, vendor and contractual partnerships, stakeholder collaboration, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with extensive experience managing complex EMS or hospital-based operations in a high-volume, fast-paced healthcare environment. TriCare Medical Transportation is South Jersey’s premier medical transportation company. We are a large-scale 24/7 operation with over 400 employees and 130 vehicles, providing service from our headquarters in Pleasantville, NJ and two satellite locations in Vineland and Cherry Hill.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience in a large EMS organization, healthcare transportation system, or hospital operation required.
  • Demonstrated experience with large-scale operational oversight and multi-site leadership.
  • Strong financial acumen with proven P&L management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of EMS operations, healthcare systems, regulatory requirements, and transportation logistics.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all operating locations; Pleasantville, Cherry Hill & Vineland.
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure safe, efficient, compliant, and high-quality patient transportation services.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with organizational goals and growth initiatives.
  • Drive operational excellence through process improvement, KPI management, and performance optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, CMS, HIPAA, and EMS regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain full responsibility for operational budgeting, forecasting, and P&L performance.
  • Monitor financial metrics, productivity, labor utilization, fleet performance, and operational costs.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining service quality and patient care standards.
  • Partner with finance leadership to support revenue cycle management and operational financial planning.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop operational leadership teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Support workforce planning, recruitment, retention, employee engagement, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Establish performance expectations and accountability measures across all operational departments.
  • Collaborate closely with internal departments including operational leadership, human resources, finance, communications, fleet and business development.
  • Serve as a key liaison with healthcare systems, hospitals, municipalities, government agencies, and contractual partners.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, fleet providers, and third-party service organizations.
  • Participate in executive leadership meetings and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to accreditation standards, operational policies, and patient care protocols.
  • Lead quality assurance, risk management, and patient satisfaction initiatives.
  • Monitor operational performance metrics and implement corrective action plans as needed.
  • Support emergency preparedness, disaster response, and business continuity planning efforts.
