About The Position

The Senior Director of Operations in the Transportation and Warehousing industry is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all operational aspects to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective transportation and logistics services across the United States. This role demands strategic leadership to drive continuous improvement initiatives, manage large-scale projects, and align operational goals with the company’s overall business objectives. The Senior Director will lead cross-functional teams, develop and implement policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in transportation, logistics, or warehousing operations.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale operations with multi-site oversight.
• Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
• Leadership and strategic planning skills daily to guide large teams and align operational activities with business goals.
• Analytical skills are essential for interpreting complex data and KPIs to identify opportunities for efficiency and cost reduction.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills enable effective collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies.
• Problem-solving skills are critical for addressing operational challenges and implementing innovative solutions.
• Proficiency with technology platforms such as TMS and WMS supports the optimization of logistics processes and enhances decision-making.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
• Experience with advanced transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS).
• Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement certification.
• Experience working in a unionized environment.
• Familiarity with emerging technologies such as automation, IoT, and data analytics in logistics.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage nationwide transportation and warehousing operations to meet service, quality, and financial targets.

• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare detailed reports for executive leadership.
