•$151,300 - $226,900•Onsite

About The Position

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Senior Digital & Integrated Circuits Engineer for its Digital and Integrated Circuit Electronics Department within the Mission Payloads Division. The department supports the design, modeling, simulation, verification, analysis, and testing of microelectronics and digital electronic boards, FPGA/ASICs, boxes, subsystems, and systems for civil, commercial, and national space systems. The selected candidate will work full time on-site at the El Segundo, California facility. The engineer will serve as a technical authority, consultant, primary investigator, or project leader on multiple programs, working with internal and external customers. The role provides technical oversight and advice on customer projects, including space-flight-worthiness assessments and specialized analytical and experimental studies for digital and mixed-signal circuits, electronics, and systems. The successful candidate will apply deep expertise in space digital electronics to support innovation and mission assurance, mentor less-experienced technical staff, and independently evaluate contractor designs, methods, and system performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Twelve or more years of engineering or scientific experience related to space digital and microelectronic hardware for satellites and space systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise across the full lifecycle of space digital and mixed-signal systems, from concept and requirements through design, manufacturing, assembly, integration, testing, and on-orbit operation, at all system levels.
  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of space qualification for electrical components, radiation effects, board- and component-level radiation testing, and worst-case circuit analysis (WCCA), including use of HyperLynx and PSPICE.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and proficiency with laboratory equipment and measurements for hardware anomalies and failures, including root-cause analysis and resolution in digital and mixed-signal circuits and subsystems.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work on-site at least four days per week.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government TS/SCI security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Proven ability to identify risks and lead risk-reduction initiatives in digital and mixed-signal electronics systems.
  • Extensive FPGA/ASIC design experience using hardware description languages such as VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
  • Strong knowledge of mixed-signal analog design, including active filters, precision current drives, data converter support circuitry, and related simulation techniques.
  • Skill in signal-integrity simulation, analysis, and testing, with a background in transmission-line theory, electromagnetics, PCB, and package-layout techniques.
  • In-depth understanding of high-speed digital communications, space payload electronics and subsystems, C&DH systems, and digital signal processing.
  • Current Secret or Top-Secret clearance with recent SSBI or reinvestigation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical authority, consultant, primary investigator, or project leader on multiple programs in collaboration with internal and external customers.
  • Provide oversight, guidance, and expert advice on customer projects.
  • Assess the space-flight worthiness of electronics and electronic systems.
  • Perform specialized analytical and experimental studies related to the design and development of digital and mixed-signal circuits, electronics, and systems.
  • Apply expertise in digital electronic systems for space applications to advance innovation and mission assurance.
  • Mentor less-experienced technical staff and serve as a role model in the organization.
  • Evaluate and independently verify contractor designs, methodologies, and overall system performance.
