About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior CPU Design Engineer to help design high-performance, low-power CPUs for product areas including consumer graphics, self-driving cars, and artificial intelligence. The role is part of NVIDIA’s global CPU team and involves working with design engineers, architects, verification engineers, and physical design engineers to develop CPU subsystems and implementations. The senior engineer will drive subsystem microarchitecture, implement designs in RTL, and help deliver designs that meet functional, performance, timing, and power goals. The role also supports physical implementation and broader hardware engineering activities, and may involve developing tools and flows to support design work.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering, or equivalent experience.
At least 8 years of experience in microarchitecture and RTL development of complex, high-speed designs, ideally in CPU subsystems.
Exposure to computer architecture and digital systems design.
High proficiency in logic design and Verilog and/or SystemVerilog, with a deep understanding of physical design and VLSI.
Strength in scripting languages such as Perl or Python.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Drive microarchitecture definition, feasibility studies, and documentation for CPU subsystems.
Implement designs in RTL and coordinate with the verification team to ensure functionality.
Optimize logic design to meet performance, timing, and power targets.
Deliver synthesis- and timing-clean designs in coordination with the physical design team, ensuring they are routable and physically implementable.
Support hardware engineering activities, including chip floor planning, power and clock distribution, chip assembly, timing closure, power and noise analysis, and back-end verification.
Develop flows and tools as needed to support design activities.
