The firm has been recognized as a three-time winner of Consulting Magazine’s Best Boutique Firms to Work For, a “Best Place to Work” in Southern California, and one of INC.’s 5000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. This role is for a Solution Designer who can assess complex client environments, identify issues, propose solutions, and design the necessary systems to achieve them. Solution Designers at CompassX are involved in both transformation strategy and hands-on delivery, owning the process from current state assessment to future state vision and the roadmap connecting them, as well as designing individual solutions for execution. This position is based in Southern California, client-facing, and focused on engagements in the LA/OC area.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in a consulting or client-facing delivery environment.
  • Experience leading complex engagements.
  • Demonstrated experience in mapping current and future states, business process re-engineering, capability design, and creating defensible roadmaps.
  • Ability to transition between high-level roadmap strategy and detailed requirements.
  • Experience with both transformation design and solution design within the same engagement.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including facilitating alignment sessions with senior clients.
  • Active use of AI tools in workflow and curiosity about their impact on consulting and client operations.
  • Must be based in LA or Orange County with the ability to be on-site at client locations in the SoCal area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with service design, interaction design, or User Experience, especially for engagements involving product or digital components.

Responsibilities

  • Lead current state assessments, including process mapping, stakeholder discovery, and pain point synthesis, to understand the client's current situation.
  • Develop future state visions and transformation roadmaps that are practical and grounded in business realities, with a focus on prioritization and feasible sequencing of work.
  • Design individual solutions to deliver against the roadmap, which includes requirements gathering, process redesign, capability definition, and handover to delivery teams.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions with senior client stakeholders to build trust, navigate priorities, and achieve alignment.
  • Act as a liaison between leadership's objectives and the delivery team's capabilities, translating ambiguity into structure and action.
  • Utilize AI tools to enhance discovery, synthesis, and design processes, and advise clients on how AI can reshape their operating models.
