The firm has been recognized as a three-time winner of Consulting Magazine’s Best Boutique Firms to Work For, a "Best Place to Work" in Southern California, and one of INC.’s 5000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. The company is seeking a Solution Designer who can assess complex client environments, identify issues, propose solutions, and design the necessary implementations. Solution Designers at CompassX operate at the intersection of transformation strategy and hands-on delivery, owning the process from current state assessment to future state vision and the roadmap connecting them, and then designing the specific solutions to execute the plan. This role is based in Southern California, is client-facing, and primarily focuses on engagements in the LA/OC area.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in a consulting or client-facing delivery environment, with a track record of leading complex engagements.
  • Demonstrated experience in mapping current and future states, understanding business process re-engineering, capability design, and creating defensible roadmaps.
  • Ability to transition between high-level roadmap design and detailed requirements definition.
  • Experience in both transformation design and solution design within the same engagement is ideal.
  • Proven ability to manage senior client relationships, facilitate alignment sessions, and demonstrate progress.
  • Active use of AI tools in workflow and curiosity about their impact on consulting and client operations.
  • Based in LA or Orange County, with the ability to be on-site at client locations in the Southern California area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with service design, interaction design, or User Experience, especially for engagements involving digital products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead current state assessments, including process mapping, stakeholder discovery, and pain point synthesis, to understand the client's current situation and its significance.
  • Develop future state visions and transformation roadmaps that are practical and grounded in business realities, prioritizing effectively and sequencing work for successful implementation.
  • Design individual solutions to meet roadmap objectives, encompassing requirements gathering, process redesign, capability definition, and handover to delivery teams.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions with senior client stakeholders to build trust, manage competing priorities, and achieve alignment on a strategic direction.
  • Act as a liaison between leadership's objectives and the delivery team's capabilities, translating ambiguity into structure and structure into actionable steps.
  • Utilize modern AI tools to enhance discovery, synthesis, and design processes, and guide clients on how AI can transform their operating models.
