About The Position

UVA’s Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a Business Systems Analyst Senior to steward the Student Financials and Financial Aid modules in the Student Information System (PeopleSoft). The analyst will help define module roadmaps, prioritize product enhancements, and serve as a primary point of contact to improve the experience of applicants, students, and Student Financial Services staff. This role coordinates the assessment, redesign, and improvement of business processes; implements solutions, training, and reports; and collaborates with stakeholders across schools, departments, and central offices. The analyst creates high-quality functional specifications and works with team members to research, test, and debug modifications and new functionality within the student system and related systems that interface with Student Financials and Financial Aid. The analyst collaborates with students, University partners, vendors, and fellow ITS employees; responds promptly to inquiries; investigates and troubleshoots system issues; and maintains configuration and setup for relevant Student Information System technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Five years of relevant PeopleSoft Student Financials and Financial Aid experience.
• Excellent project management, team-building, organizational, and analytical skills, with a high level of consistency, accuracy, and dependability.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to independently assess business processes, propose innovative solutions, and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers across University roles and backgrounds.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a collegial, supportive environment and share information effectively and reliably.
• Ability to adapt to rapid change and uncertainty while managing competing priorities in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to facilitate and lead meetings and work groups.
• Intermediate-level technical skills and troubleshooting techniques.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

• Ten or more years of relevant PeopleSoft Student Financials and Financial Aid experience.
• Familiarity with enterprise systems such as PeopleSoft, Workday, and ServiceNow.
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, student portal or self-service functionality, and the student lifecycle.
• Experience in a higher education environment.
• Knowledge of business and process analysis best practices.

Responsibilities

• Assess, prioritize, analyze, and redesign existing business processes and technologies; develop and test solutions; troubleshoot complex issues; and provide training on new technologies.
• Support efforts to keep the SIS secure, efficient, patched, and fully functioning for applicants, students, instructors, advisors, and administrative staff.
• Resolve issues involving the student system and interfacing products, and maintain relevant system configuration and setup.
• Serve as steward for the Student Financials and Financial Aid SIS modules.
• Help define module roadmaps, support high-level decision-making, and plan future enhancements and potential new technologies.
• Partner with University stakeholders to understand priorities, assess impacts, and align work with institutional needs.
• Collaborate with Student Financial Services, schools, and other University partners to plan enhancement and testing cycles and communicate release plans to affected stakeholders.
• Build strong relationships, share best practices, and serve as a valued partner to department and school administrators, central office staff, ITS colleagues, students, applicants, advisors, instructors, and vendors.
• Gather and document stakeholder requirements and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Explain complex technical concepts clearly to nontechnical stakeholders and facilitate meetings and work groups.
• Support ITS and University goals, focus on people, initiate positive change, value differences, and encourage team collaboration.
• Stay informed about trends and developments in student-related technologies, policies, and compliance, and incorporate relevant innovations into the University’s Student Financials and Financial Aid strategy.
• Work effectively with external vendors and service providers to support high-quality SIS solutions and services.
• Assist in evaluating and selecting student technologies and tools that meet University requirements.
• Translate business needs into functional specifications and design solutions to meet those needs.
• Research, test, and debug system modifications and new functionality in collaboration with team members.
• Develop test plans and execute integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
• Implement solutions and reports, and provide user training and support.
