About The Position

This is a remote position with preferences for candidates in the Huntsville, AL area. We are seeking an experienced Senior Broadband Consultant to lead strategic, technical, and financial advisory engagements supporting broadband network development and deployment. This role serves as a client-facing leader, responsible for delivering high-impact consulting services across feasibility studies, funding strategies, network planning, and program execution. The ideal candidate combines deep telecommunications expertise, strong consulting acumen, and proven leadership skills to guide clients through complex broadband initiatives while contributing to business growth and practice development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8–15+ years of experience in broadband, telecommunications, or infrastructure consulting
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex broadband or telecommunications projects
  • Strong background in fiber, wireless, and/or hybrid network architectures
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and lead project teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting public-sector broadband initiatives (states, municipalities, co-ops)
  • Direct experience with broadband funding programs (e.g., BEAD, NTIA, USDA ReConnect)
  • Experience with GIS tools, network design platforms, or engineering coordination
  • PMP or similar project management certification

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted partner to clients (utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, and private providers) and act as their primary point of contact throughout engagements.
  • Shape broadband strategies by leading the development of master plans, market assessments, and business cases, offering executive-level guidance to senior stakeholders.
  • Lead consulting engagements from start to finish, managing cross-functional teams (engineering, GIS, financial modeling, grants, construction) to meet quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
  • Guide network strategy and technical direction, overseeing the evaluation and planning of fiber, fixed wireless, and hybrid broadband solutions, assessing existing infrastructure, and defining scalable deployment approaches.
  • Oversee the development of financial models (ROI, business cases, operating scenarios) and assist clients in navigating funding opportunities, including federal and state programs (BEAD, NTIA), grant applications, compliance, and funding alignment.
  • Lead stakeholder and community engagement, including workshops, executive briefings, and public meetings, collaborating with local governments, regulatory agencies, and funding entities, and managing relationships with vendors and partners.
  • Provide program leadership oversight on execution, monitoring schedules, budgets, and risks, establishing governance frameworks, reporting structures, and performance metrics, and guiding clients through planning to construction and implementation.
  • Contribute to business growth by supporting proposals, defining scopes, shaping pricing strategies, uncovering new opportunities, and participating in thought leadership efforts (presentations, whitepapers, industry forums).
