About The Position

As a Senior Backend Engineer I on the Money team, you will build and maintain backend services that support customer accounts and money movement, including balances, transfers, payments, statements, and daily processing. You will deliver well-defined features to a high standard while learning how banking-grade systems maintain accuracy and auditability, and help keep customer funds accurate and secure. The role involves taking features from technical design through production and collaborating with Product, Finance, Operations, Risk, and Compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 4 years of professional backend engineering experience, including running services in production.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Go, or another modern backend language.
• Good understanding of microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, event-driven design, and reliability fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases, including transactions, locking, and query tuning.
• Hands-on experience with Redis caching and Kafka messaging.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS, containers, and CI/CD.
• Ownership mindset and clear communication.

• Experience in banking, payments, e-wallets, or another regulated financial environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs for accounts, balances, transfers, and payments.
• Deliver features from technical design through production, including tests, monitoring, and alerting.
• Process transfers and payments exactly once, with clear transaction states, safe retries, and complete audit trails.
• Integrate with banks and payment partners, handling delays, errors, and duplicate messages safely.
• Support daily batch processing and reconciliation, and help resolve mismatches at their root cause.
• Write clean, well-tested code and actively participate in code reviews.
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and help deliver lasting fixes.
• Work with Product, Finance, Operations, Risk, and Compliance to turn requirements into reliable solutions.
