About The Position

Mesh is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design, develop, and maintain software solutions that support its mission to make crypto payments reliable and useful for everyday commerce. The role works closely with Engineering and Product teams across North America, Europe, and India, building secure crypto-first products for financial activities such as payments and transfers. It includes developing backend services and APIs, deploying and scaling services with Azure, and optimizing backend systems for performance and large data volumes. The engineer will also contribute to testing, debugging, code reviews, architectural decisions, and system design while following current industry practices and trends. The role is hybrid for employees based in Mesh's San Francisco, New York, and Bangalore hubs, who are expected to work from the office at least 40% of the time, approximately two days per week. Mesh describes its broader approach as remote-friendly. Compensation is listed at $180,000–$200,000 USD, with actual compensation depending on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location. The listed base salary excludes commission where applicable, equity, and benefits.

Requirements

5–7+ years of professional experience as a backend software engineer.
Strong proficiency in backend programming languages such as C#, Java, Scala, or Go.
Good knowledge of security concepts, including authentication, authorization, SAML, API security, and encryption.
Understanding of crypto concepts such as blockchains, RPCs, and self-custody wallets.
Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and microservices architecture.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure.
Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
