About The Position

Ajaib Group is an Indonesian fintech company focused on expanding access to financial services. The company operates with a fully remote work arrangement and has a geographically distributed team across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia.

As a Senior Backend Engineer I on the Platform team, you will build and maintain shared backend services—including authentication, notifications, configuration, and API gateways—that support Ajaib products. You will deliver features from technical design through production, help keep platform foundations stable and secure, and develop services that are reliable and straightforward for other engineering teams to use. The role works with product engineering teams, Security, and Infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 4 years of professional backend engineering experience, including operating services in production.
• Strong skills in Java, Go, or another modern backend language.
• Good understanding of microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, event-driven design, and reliability fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases and query tuning, Redis caching, and Kafka messaging.
• Working knowledge of authentication and authorization, including OAuth2 and JWT, and secure coding.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS, containers, and CI/CD.
• Ownership mindset, clear communication, and a service-oriented approach to internal users.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain shared backend services and APIs used by product teams.
• Deliver features from technical design to production, including tests, monitoring, and alerting.
• Keep APIs stable and backward compatible, and communicate changes to their users.
• Build secure services that protect user identity, sessions, and personal data.
• Write documentation and examples to help other engineers use platform services.
• Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and help deliver lasting fixes.
• Improve the performance and reliability of owned services.
• Work with product engineering teams, Security, and Infrastructure to turn requirements into reliable solutions.
