Senior Backend Engineer
About The Position
Mesh is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design, develop, and maintain software solutions that support its mission to make crypto payments reliable and useful for everyday commerce. The role works closely with Engineering and Product teams across North America, Europe, and India, building secure, crypto-first products that facilitate financial activity such as payments and transfers. The engineer will develop and maintain backend services and APIs, work with Azure cloud services, and help ensure systems are reliable, efficient, secure, and scalable. The position contributes to testing and debugging, code reviews, architectural decisions, and system design. It also involves optimizing backend systems for large data volumes and staying informed about developments in fintech, crypto, and backend engineering. Mesh describes its work environment as hybrid for employees based in its San Francisco, New York, and Bangalore hubs, with an expectation to work from the office at least 40% of the time. The compensation range is $180,000–$200,000 USD, excluding any applicable commission, equity, and benefits.
Requirements
- 5–7+ years of professional experience as a backend software engineer.
- Strong proficiency in backend programming languages such as C#, Java, Scala, or Go.
- A security-first mindset and good knowledge of security concepts such as authentication, authorization, SAML, API security, and encryption.
- Understanding of crypto concepts such as blockchains, RPCs, and self-custody wallets.
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
