Senior Automation Manager - Holly Springs

Roche•Holly Springs, NC
•$130,600 - $242,600

About The Position

The Senior Automation Manager will participate in execution of the Holly Springs greenfield manufacturing project and support the facility after it goes live. The role provides automation, instrumentation, and controls engineering capabilities to the ITOT/Automation Engineering Group, including generating qualification protocols and maintaining the validated state of systems and processes. Work will initially include Basic Design, Detailed Design, and facility startup, then focus on long-term support of automation, instrumentation, and control systems for process, utility, and building systems. The manager will lead automation projects with large or complex scopes and drive strategic process improvements, serving as both a people leader and coach and, when needed, a hands-on subject matter expert. The position leads the site automation engineering team and automation strategy, and oversees design, commissioning, and validation of process control systems. It establishes life-cycle management for site control and manufacturing systems and partners with IT and Quality stakeholders on data integrity and compliance. The successful candidate will be the overall site systems lead and accountable people leader for site control systems, a technical system owner and administrator—primarily for DeltaV Distributed Control System—and a support lead for systems in scope, primarily Rockwell SCADA. The role also supports evolution of the ITOT operating model toward regional control-systems ownership across multiple North American sites, and serves on the Site ITOT Run Squad and Leadership Team. The work begins as a mix of remote and onsite work, first at the General Planner’s office and later at the construction site or plant. Once the buildings are complete and equipment delivered, the role transitions to full-time onsite work. Travel of up to 30% is expected during the project phase. The role participates in a 24x7 on-call environment, including weekends and holidays as required. The official title after hiring will be Control Systems Lead.
