About The Position

Chronicle Heritage is seeking an on-call Senior Archaeologist to serve as a Field Director based out of their Tallahassee office. This role will support a large-scale Phase III mitigation project in northern Florida. The successful applicant will collaborate with the project management team and field staff to navigate various federal, state, and municipal ordinances for clients. The position is part-time (hourly) and requires occasional weekend work depending on project needs.

Requirements

• Degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field
• 3+ years of experience managing survey, testing, and data recovery projects of various sizes and complexity, including technical roles within an environmental, engineering, or cultural consulting firm
• Expert knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of CRM and relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations
• Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate field crews and field projects
• Provide technical oversight
• Provide quality control for field data and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
• Train and mentor staff and actively engage in professional development
• Interface with clients and external stakeholders as needed
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations affecting CRM and general industry trends
• Demonstrate technical excellence in area of expertise and maintain knowledge of best practices
• Oversee field investigations of proposed project sites to assess or evaluate resources or the potential for resources
• Direct collection of data
