About The Position

ICF's Environment & Planning Division is seeking On-Call (Temporary) Archaeologists based in the Los Angeles area. This role primarily involves assisting senior archaeologists with fieldwork tasks such as survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring. Additional duties may include laboratory analysis, background research, and report preparation. The position requires strong field skills, the ability to identify precontact and historic-period artifacts, and meticulous field note-taking. Travel for up to 10 days may be required, and work will be conducted outdoors in various weather conditions. As an On-Call employee, work hours are scheduled as available, and individuals have the flexibility to accept or decline assignments. Concurrent employment outside of ICF is permitted, provided there is no conflict of interest.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field
  • Must have valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check

Nice To Haves

  • Field experience in Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with ICF senior staff and construction personnel
  • Knowledge and familiarity with computers and smart devices is critical
  • Background in precontact or historic-period archaeology is required
  • Ability to conduct field visits at locations throughout Southern California
  • Active 40-hour HAZWOPER training
  • Experience working with and communicating with construction crews
