Field Archaeologist - On-call (Los Angeles Area)
About The Position
ICF is seeking On-Call (Temporary) Archaeologists based in the Los Angeles area to assist senior archaeologists primarily in fieldwork, including survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring. Other duties may include laboratory analysis, background research, and report preparation. This position requires excellent field skills, the ability to identify precontact and historic-period artifacts, and taking detailed field notes. Travel for up to 10 days may be involved, and work will occur outdoors under all weather conditions. On-Call employees are scheduled for work hours as they become available, are free to accept or refuse assigned hours, and may work concurrent projects outside of their ICF assignment as long as there is no conflict of interest.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field
- Must have valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check
- Background in precontact or historic-period archaeology is required
Nice To Haves
- Field experience in Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties
- Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with ICF senior staff and construction personnel
- Knowledge and familiarity with computers and smart devices is critical
- Ability to conduct field visits at locations throughout Southern California
- Active 40-hour HAZWOPER training
- Experience working with and communicating with construction crews
