About the position
Civis Analytics is seeking a Senior Applied Data Scientist to join their commercial Applied Data Science practice. The role involves utilizing data science to solve complex problems in the media industry, such as measuring the impact of marketing and advertising campaigns. The Senior ADS will be responsible for managing client relationships, leading project research design, and translating findings into actionable insights. They will also work closely with cross-functional teams and contribute to the development of strategic growth opportunities for the company.
Responsibilities
- Handling client relationships and communication on day-to-day projects and initiatives
- Leading and structuring project research design, including statistical analysis, modeling techniques, and data management methods
- Working with cross-functional teams of data scientists and software engineers to create and implement solutions
- Managing the unification of large 1st- and 3rd-party datasets and building predictive models
- Translating findings into clear, actionable, and timely insights with the appropriate business context
- Working closely with Applied Data Science teams to lead Multi-Touch Attribution (MTA) modeling and MTA-powered solutions
- Influencing and collaborating on channel-level media strategies based on marketing, audience, and consumer insights
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an analytical subject (statistics, math, economics, physics, etc) or Business
- Strong foundation in statistics and data analytics expertise in survey research and statistical modeling
- Familiarity with machine learning and causal inference (a plus)
- At least 4 years of experience working with large data sets to solve real-world business challenges
- Experience managing teams to complete projects within scope and on time
- Proficiency in SQL and/or statistical packages (R, Python, STATA, etc)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated history of delivering high-quality analytic work to decision-makers
- Experience with Multi-Touch Attribution (MTA) modeling and MTA-powered marketing effectiveness measurement and attribution solutions (preferred)
- Advanced degree in an analytical subject (statistics, math, economics, physics, business, etc.) or Masters in Business Administration (preferred)
- Expertise in SQL and/or statistical packages (R, Python, STATA, etc) (preferred)
- Experience working for a consulting, services, or advisory firm (preferred)
- Experience writing proposals, building cost and pricing estimates of proposed work, and selling the work to new or existing clients (preferred)
- Experience presenting completed work or pitching new work to executive audiences (preferred)
