About The Position

This is a remote mechanical/chemical process engineering role in industrial water treatment, open to candidates anywhere in North America. Direct experience with high-purity water, ultrapure water (UPW) systems, or semiconductor water infrastructure is required. The Senior Application Engineer is the first technical point of contact for clients and partners with Sales and Process Engineering to develop water treatment solutions for complex, mission-critical applications. The role owns the proposal lifecycle from lead qualification through system design, costing, and contract handover, working with global teams across time zones. The engineer designs custom UPW systems using expertise in mass transfer, fluid dynamics, and inorganic chemistry. The role spans technologies including ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, UV destruction, electrodeionization, and ion exchange. Working with Process Engineering and other disciplines, the engineer develops process flow diagrams, mass balances, equipment selections, system layouts, and comprehensive proposal packages. The position also involves managing proposal schedules, coordinating engineering resources, managing vendor and subcontractor relationships, evaluating technical specifications, handling scope changes, and ensuring on-time delivery. The engineer creates proposal documents, supports Sales through technical consultations and customer presentations, and communicates complex engineering concepts clearly to clients. Veolia describes itself as a global environmental services company operating across five continents, with nearly 218,000 employees, and working in water, energy, and waste management. The role requires eligibility to work lawfully in the U.S. immediately; the employer will not sponsor U.S. work authorization.
