About The Position

Veolia’s Water Technology Business is seeking a Senior Application Engineer for a mechanical/chemical process engineering role in industrial water treatment. The position can be performed remotely from anywhere in North America. Candidates must have direct experience in high-purity water, ultrapure water (UPW) systems, or semiconductor water infrastructure. The engineer will be a first technical point of contact for clients, working with Sales and Process Engineering to develop water treatment solutions for complex, mission-critical applications. The role owns the proposal lifecycle from lead qualification through system design, costing, and contract handover, and requires collaboration across global teams and time zones. The role designs custom UPW systems using expertise in mass transfer, fluid dynamics, and inorganic chemistry. It works across technologies including ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, UV destruction, electrodeionization, and ion exchange. The engineer develops process flow diagrams, mass balances, equipment selections, and system layouts; coordinates proposal schedules and resources; manages vendor and subcontractor relationships; evaluates specifications and scope changes; and prepares proposal packages with other engineering disciplines. The position also supports Sales through technical consultations and customer presentations, translating complex engineering into clear client communication.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical/mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven expertise in ultrapure water treatment technologies.
  • Strong foundation in mass transfer, fluid dynamics, and inorganic chemistry.
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a global, fast-paced environment.
