About The Position

The Senior Process Engineer is a technical leader on Veolia’s Process Engineering team, supporting customers in the North American market with ultrapure water (UPW) treatment solutions for the microelectronics industry. The role supports the sale, execution, commissioning, and operation of complete systems, balancing capital and operating costs, technical risk, customer requirements, regulations, and project success. The engineer leads process design, including water chemistry characterization, design basis development, unit-process selection and sizing, and process guarantees. The role applies advanced treatment technologies and integrates multiple unit operations into cohesive treatment systems. It also evaluates performance under design and upset conditions, identifies potential failures, and contributes to HAZOP reviews, piloting, benchmarking, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. The position builds long-term customer and industry relationships, presents at conferences and technical forums, contributes to innovation, and trains and mentors others in process design. It requires confident communication and leadership across bidding and project-execution teams, effective prioritization, and the ability to balance autonomy with collaboration. Travel of up to 10% within North America is expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an engineering field; Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred, or another technical discipline combined with process design and hands-on UPW system experience.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in UPW treatment design; a combination of process design experience and field operations background will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience with UPW treatment processes and system design or operation for the microelectronics industry.
  • Proven ability to integrate multiple unit operations into cohesive, optimized treatment systems.
  • Clear, concise communication and presentation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise sound engineering judgment under changing conditions.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to take ownership of system integration.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% within North America.
  • Must be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; the employer will not sponsor U.S. work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with process design software and tools such as WinFlows, WAVE, and/or GasCAD (Liqui-Cel GTM).
  • Strong proficiency with spreadsheet tools such as Google Sheets and Excel.
  • Professional Engineer licensure (PE, P.Eng., or Ing.) in a U.S. or Canadian jurisdiction, or willingness to obtain licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead process design of ultrapure water treatment solutions for the microelectronics industry.
  • Characterize water chemistry and develop design bases, including for reclaim-to-UPW applications.
  • Select and design unit processes, size equipment, and develop process guarantees.
  • Apply advanced treatment technologies, including solids separation; low- and high-pressure membrane treatment (ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and conventional and high-pH reverse osmosis); ion exchange; UV treatment; and gas-transfer membrane processes.
  • Integrate multiple unit operations or collaborate closely with a dedicated system integrator on complex flowsheets.
  • Evaluate system operation under design and upset conditions, identify potential points of failure, and participate in HAZOP reviews.
  • Engage in piloting and benchmarking treatability studies for design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and communicate the effects of unit processes on upstream and downstream processes.
  • Build long-term relationships with customers and key industry experts.
  • Present at industry conferences and technical forums to position Veolia as an expert in microelectronics UPW.
  • Participate in innovation of solutions, technologies, and markets.
  • Train and mentor others in process design.
