About The Position

SpaceWorks Enterprises is seeking an aerospace engineer specializing in aerodynamics to help design and develop next-generation hypersonic flight vehicles, Earth-to-orbit launch systems, human and robotic spacecraft, and space re-entry vehicles. The role supports a small multidisciplinary technical team and involves modeling, simulation, design, and analysis of high-speed flight systems, including endo-atmospheric, re-entry, and launch systems. The engineer will develop and optimize aerodynamic designs from concept development and requirements definition through preliminary and detailed design. The role includes detailed analysis to predict and improve aerodynamic performance, use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and lower-order methods to evaluate performance, and assessment of how configuration changes affect vehicle performance. The position is in-office at SpaceWorks’ Atlanta, Georgia facility, with telework days and flexible scheduling options available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, including time in internships and research.
  • Technical engineering contributions primarily in concept development, requirements definition, preliminary design, and detailed design.
  • Experience designing or modeling hypersonic atmospheric vehicles, Earth-to-orbit launch systems, or human and robotic spacecraft.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary design optimization.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, collaborative environment with the ownership and autonomy typical of a small business.
  • Hands-on experience with trajectory optimization software, CFD tools, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent simulation platforms.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and immediately eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Open-minded, solution-focused attitude and willingness to contribute to a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

  • High-level disciplinary experience with multidisciplinary analysis and optimization of high-speed flight and/or launch vehicle design.
  • Experience in relevant aerospace-oriented flight development programs, such as UAVs, missiles, or CubeSats.
  • Basic knowledge of Monte Carlo analysis, uncertainty analysis, or risk analysis.
  • Small-business experience.

Responsibilities
