About The Position

SpaceWorks Enterprises is seeking an aerospace engineer specializing in aerodynamics to support the design and development of next-generation hypersonic flight vehicles, Earth-to-orbit launch systems, human and robotic spacecraft, and space re-entry vehicles. The role supports a small multidisciplinary technical team and includes aerodynamic design and analysis from concept development and requirements definition through preliminary and detailed design. The engineer will use computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and lower-order methods to assess aerodynamic performance and evaluate how configuration changes affect vehicle performance. The successful candidate brings a collaborative, solution-oriented approach and experience supporting modeling, simulation, and design activities for high-speed flight systems, including atmospheric flight, re-entry, and launch systems. The position is based in SpaceWorks’ Atlanta facility, with telework days and flexible scheduling options available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience; internships and research count toward this experience.
  • Experience in the design or modeling of hypersonic atmospheric vehicles, Earth-to-orbit launch systems, or human and robotic spacecraft.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary design optimization.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, collaborative, multidisciplinary environment with the ownership and autonomy typical of a small business.
  • Hands-on experience with trajectory optimization software, CFD tools, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent simulation platforms.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and immediately eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced disciplinary experience with multidisciplinary analysis and optimization of high-speed flight and/or launch vehicle design.
  • Experience in aerospace-oriented flight development programs, such as UAVs, missiles, or CubeSats.
  • Basic knowledge of Monte Carlo analysis, uncertainty analysis, or risk analysis.
  • Small business experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize aerodynamic designs from concept development and requirements definition through preliminary and detailed design.
  • Conduct detailed analyses to predict and enhance aerodynamic performance.
  • Use computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools and lower-order methods to evaluate performance.
  • Evaluate the effects of vehicle configuration changes on performance.
  • Contribute technically to concept development, requirements definition, preliminary design, and detailed design.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage options, including medical, telemedicine, vision, dental, long-term disability, and short-term disability.
  • Health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts.
  • Flexible work schedules, including telework days, compressed workweek options, core hours, and flex time.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Parental leave.
  • Sabbatical leave.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Opportunities for bonuses.
