Applied Aerodynamics Engineer

Corvid Technologies LLC•Mooresville, NC

About The Position

Corvid's Aerodynamics team works with customers to apply Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to the analysis of aerospace and similar weapon-system design concepts and modifications. The team uses Corvid-developed computational tools and an in-house high-performance computing environment to provide detailed insights into systems and concepts. Its analyses cover flight vehicles across all Mach regimes, evaluating overall aerodynamics and the effects of propulsion systems on vehicle dynamics and controllability. The engineer will support defense-related programs by applying CFD solutions to aerodynamic development. The role involves working with multidisciplinary teams to develop technical solutions for mission-critical systems, conducting analysis, and communicating results and recommendations to customers evaluating those systems. Tasking includes grid generation for complex internal and external geometries, development and execution of CFD solutions, report generation, and proposal-development support as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a similar STEM discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience applying CFD solutions to aerodynamic development.
  • Strong technical foundation in fluid dynamics across all Mach regimes.
  • Working knowledge of static and dynamic stability and flight-dynamics modeling.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems, high-performance computing environments, Fortran or C/C++, and relevant scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
