About The Position

SpaceWorks Enterprises is seeking an aerospace engineer specializing in aerodynamics to design and develop next-generation hypersonic flight vehicles, Earth-to-orbit launch systems, human and robotic spacecraft, and space re-entry vehicles. The role supports a small multidisciplinary technical team working on complex aerospace systems and requires experience with modeling, simulation, and design of high-speed flight systems, including endo-atmospheric, re-entry, and launch systems. The engineer will develop and optimize aerodynamic designs from concept development and requirements definition through preliminary and detailed design. The role includes analyzing and enhancing aerodynamic performance using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and lower-order methods, and evaluating how vehicle configuration changes affect performance. The position is in-office at SpaceWorks’ Atlanta, Georgia facility, with telework days and flexible scheduling options available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, including time in internships and research.
  • Experience designing or modeling hypersonic atmospheric vehicles, Earth-to-orbit launch systems, or human and robotic spacecraft.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary design optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with trajectory optimization software, CFD tools, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent simulation platforms.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, collaborative environment with the ownership and autonomy typical of a small business.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and immediately eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • A solution-oriented, open-minded approach and a willingness to take initiative.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced disciplinary experience with multidisciplinary analysis and optimization of high-speed flight and/or launch vehicle design.
  • Experience in relevant aerospace flight development programs, such as UAVs, missiles, or CubeSats.
  • Basic knowledge of Monte Carlo analysis, uncertainty analysis, or risk analysis.
  • Small business experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support a small multidisciplinary team of technical staff in designing complex systems.
  • Develop and optimize aerodynamic designs from concept development and requirements definition through preliminary and detailed design.
  • Conduct detailed analyses to predict and enhance aerodynamic performance.
  • Use computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools and lower-order methods to evaluate performance.
  • Evaluate the impact of vehicle configuration changes on performance.
  • Contribute technically to concept development, requirements definition, preliminary design, and detailed design.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage options, including medical, telemedicine, vision, dental, long-term disability, short-term disability, health savings accounts, and flexible spending accounts.
  • Flexible work schedules, including telework days, compressed workweek options, core hours, and flex time.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Parental leave.
  • Sabbatical leave.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Opportunities for bonuses.
