About The Position

Our Accounting & Finance Department monitors and maintains the Company’s financial records and resources which are vital to Company’s ability to serve our customers with excellence and make a positive difference in our community. This role works closely with Financial Reporting, Accounting Operations, and Operations teams to ensure accurate processing and recording of payroll activity, support month-end close, and assist with compliance needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or comparable experience) and/or 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a payroll or high-volume transactional environment
  • Experience with payroll systems
  • Ability to independently interpret and apply policies and procedures, including identifying and analyzing the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Able to effectively communicate and build highly productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Enthusiastic learner with the curiosity and desire to continuously improve business and accounting processes and systems, as well as further refine and develop their professional and technical accounting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet required timelines and deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead payroll accounting activities, including maintenance of chart-of-accounts mappings; validate payroll extracts and post interface entries to the ERP with full reconciliation to control totals.
  • Assist the Financial Reporting team with the preparation and closing of monthly financial statements for the Company in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations for bank accounts, including payroll, tax, benefit, and funding activity; investigate and resolve variances.
  • Review payroll registers, funding reports, and tax data, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Perform cash management activities, including monitoring bank balances, printing checks, administering Positive Pay files, and supporting daily cash positioning to ensure timely funding of payroll, tax, and operational obligations.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for payroll-related liabilities
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation to support internal controls and external audits.
  • Drive process improvements and document procedures, enhancing efficiency and control effectiveness.
  • Own ad hoc requests and special projects, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving.
  • Other duties as assigned.
