About The Position

As a Senior Accountant, you will play a critical role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of our organization. You will own key accounting functions — from day-to-day transactional processes to monthly close and financial reporting — while partnering cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and Leadership to drive accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement across our accounting operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with exposure to full-cycle accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger management
  • Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable, and financial close processes.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Must be located within commuting distance of Chicago, IL for hybrid work arrangement

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Gusto for payroll processing is a plus.
  • CPA or CPA candidate is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts receivable and collections processes to ensure timely and accurate invoicing and cash application
  • Manage accounts payable and vendor payment workflows, maintaining strong vendor relationships and payment accuracy
  • Process payroll and perform related reconciliations to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time
  • Calculate and administer sales commissions in coordination with Sales and Finance teams
  • Perform daily and monthly cash reconciliations to maintain real-time visibility into cash positioning
  • Lead the monthly accrual-based financial close process, ensuring deadlines and accuracy standards are met
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and supporting schedules
  • Assist with financial reporting and month-end variance analysis for internal stakeholders
  • Support annual audit and tax preparation processes in collaboration with external advisors
  • Identify and help implement improvements to accounting workflows, internal controls, and documentation
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and Leadership teams to support strategic financial decisions
