Position Summary The Senior Accountant – Accounts Receivable is responsible for managing the full cycle of receivables, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing, collections, and revenue recognition. This role serves as a subject matter expert within the AR function and plays a key part in month-end close, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
4+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong focus on accounts receivable
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics 365)
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis)
Strong comprehension of internal control and technical accounting
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills for internal and external stakeholders
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
Ability to learn and adapt changes in fast-paced environments
Proactively seeking opportunities for process improvement

Nice To Haves

3PL experience preferred
Prior experience in a senior or lead AR role preferred
Familiarity with revenue recognition standards (ASC 606) a plus
CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Experience in [industry, e.g., manufacturing, SaaS, healthcare] a plus
Knowledge of credit and collections best practices

Responsibilities

Oversee the end-to-end AR process, including invoice generation, payment application, and account reconciliation
Monitor aging reports and proactively manage collections to minimize past-due balances
Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, short payments, and customer disputes in a timely manner
Maintain accurate customer account records and ensure proper documentation of all transactions
Reconcile AR subledger to general ledger and 3PL AR reports to ensure accuracy and resolve variances
Prepare and post AR-related journal entries, including revenue accruals and bad debt provisions
Generate and distribute AR aging, DSO (Days Sales Outstanding), and cash flow reports to management
Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Communicate with customers and internal stakeholders regarding outstanding balances and payment terms
Apply incoming payments accurately to the correct accounts and invoices
Identify delinquent accounts and escalate as appropriate per company policy
Identify inefficiencies in the AR workflow and recommend or implement process improvements
Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and company policies
Assist with internal and external audits by providing schedules, documentation, and analysis
Mentor and provide guidance to junior AR staff
