About The Position

The Senior Account Executive, Investment Sales is responsible for converting prospective investors into first-time Alumni Ventures investors and establishing the foundation for long-term relationships. Reporting to the EVP of Nurture Marketing within the Investor Conversion Pillar, this role owns inbound and warm prospect conversations from qualification through close. It involves solution selling rather than following a fixed script: understanding each prospect’s motivations and goals for venture exposure, then connecting those needs with an appropriate AV offering, such as a syndicate deal, Alumni Fund, Focused Fund, or Foundation Fund. The primary goal is zero-to-one conversion, while building trust and understanding that the Relationship Management team can carry forward into a potential annual-allocation relationship. Alumni Ventures operates as a five-day-a-week, in-office culture, emphasizing collaboration, mentorship, and shared momentum. The position also contributes to the development of coaching, call-quality standards, and performance practices as the Investor Conversion Pillar grows. The anticipated annual base salary is $170,000–$180,000. Eligible employees may also receive incentive compensation, equity, and a corporate bonus, subject to applicable plans and programs.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in a closing sales role.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to build trust, sustain engagement, and guide nuanced conversations over the phone.
  • Ability to diagnose prospect needs, listen before recommending, and adapt to different motivations, investment experience, and buying signals.
  • Ability to adapt in real time when conversations take an unexpected direction.
  • Ability to learn and speak credibly about venture capital, fund structures, and portfolio construction, or demonstrated ability to quickly develop fluency in complex products.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of prospect conversations while maintaining call quality, accurate documentation, and follow-through.
  • Comfort receiving specific coaching based on call recordings and performance data and applying the feedback.
  • Experience using HubSpot or a comparable CRM for pipeline management, call documentation, and follow-up.
  • Active use of AI tools for prospect research, call preparation, and follow-up, with independent judgment applied to their output.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in financial services, investment products, or another high-consideration, relationship-driven sales environment.
  • Experience selling to retail or high-net-worth accredited investors.
  • Familiarity with syndications, SPVs, or other alternative investment products.

Responsibilities

  • Own inbound and warm prospect and investor calls end to end, from qualification through close.
  • Prioritize first-time investment conversion and establish a strong relationship foundation for the Relationship Management team.
  • Identify prospect motivations and adapt conversations in real time rather than relying on a fixed talk track.
  • Use active listening and discovery to understand investor goals and connect them to an appropriate Alumni Ventures offering.
  • Recognize buying signals, hesitation, and objections, and help prospects make informed decisions with confidence.
  • Explain AV’s “see the deal, then decide” approach and the investment opportunities and access available through AV.
  • Document call outcomes, prospect insights, and next steps accurately in HubSpot, and actively advance a book of leads.
  • Partner with Marketing and Nurture teams to provide feedback on lead quality and improve prospect messaging and education.
  • Contribute to Senior Partner coaching, call-quality standards, and performance practices as the Investor Conversion Pillar grows.
  • Use AI tools for prospect research, call preparation, information synthesis, and personalized follow-up, applying sound judgment to investor interactions.
