About The Position

As a Self-Checkout Host at Sprouts Farmers Market, you deliver exceptional customer service while customers scan and pay for their baskets. You oversee self-checkout units, help customers complete transactions, monitor scanning accuracy, and keep the self-checkout area clean and orderly. The role involves assisting multiple customers at once, anticipating and resolving issues, providing information about products and promotions, and inviting customers to use self-checkout when other lanes have lines. You also thank customers as they leave and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Have previous experience in a retail, customer service, or sales environment.
Have a positive attitude and the ability to interact positively with customers.
Be able to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Have good communication skills and the ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
Be able to lift or carry products horizontally or vertically weighing up to 30 lbs. between 36 and 24 inches, for up to 3 feet and for up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Be able to use both hands to move grocery carts horizontally, requiring force up to 35 lbs. for up to 4 feet and up to 50 hours.
Have strong attention to detail and numerical proficiency, including cash-handling and mathematical skills.

Responsibilities

Oversee self-checkout units and provide prompt, friendly service to ensure customer satisfaction.
Assist customers as they scan, weigh, bag, and pay for their items.
Serve multiple customers at once and anticipate potential issues.
Answer questions and resolve issues involving large items, scanning, weighing, or payment.
Monitor scanning activity to ensure accuracy.
Invite customers to use self-checkout lanes, especially when lines are forming in other lanes.
Maintain knowledge of weekly ad items, promotions, and events, and direct customers to products throughout the store.
Keep self-checkout areas clean and orderly and perform other related duties as assigned.
Thank customers as they leave the self-checkout area.
