About The Position

As a Self-Checkout Host at Sprouts Farmers Market, you are the face of the company, delivering exceptional customer service while customers scan and pay for their baskets. You oversee self-checkout units, assist customers throughout the checkout process, and help ensure an accurate, smooth, and seamless experience. The role also includes maintaining a clean and orderly self-checkout area and sharing information about products, weekly ads, promotions, and events. Duties and requirements may change to meet business and organizational needs.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Have previous experience in retail, customer service, or sales.
Have a positive attitude and the ability to interact positively with customers.
Be able to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
Be dependable and reliable, and able to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Have good communication skills and the ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
Be able to lift or carry product weighing up to 30 lbs. horizontally or vertically from 36 inches to 24 inches, for a distance of up to 3 feet, for up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Be able to use both hands to move grocery carts horizontally, applying force up to 35 lbs. for a distance of up to 4 feet, for up to 50 hours.
Have strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers, cash handling, and mathematical skills.

Nice To Haves

1–2 years of cashier experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee self-checkout units and provide prompt, friendly service to ensure customer satisfaction.
Assist customers as they scan, weigh, bag, and pay for their items.
Serve multiple customers at once and anticipate potential issues.
Answer questions and help resolve issues involving large items, scanning, weighing, or payment.
Monitor scanning activity for accuracy.
Invite customers to use self-checkout lanes, especially when lines are forming in other lanes.
Maintain knowledge of weekly ad items, promotions, and events, and direct customers to products throughout the store.
Keep self-checkout areas clean and orderly and perform other related duties as assigned.
Thank customers as they leave the self-checkout area.
