About The Position

As a Self-Checkout Host at Sprouts Farmers Market, you are the face of the company, delivering exceptional customer service while customers scan and pay for their own items. You oversee self-checkout units and help customers scan, weigh, bag, and pay for items, ensuring a smooth process and customer satisfaction. You assist multiple customers at once, anticipate issues, answer questions, monitor scanning accuracy, and encourage customers to use self-checkout when other lanes have lines. You also maintain knowledge of weekly ad items, promotions, and events; direct customers to products throughout the store; keep self-checkout areas clean and orderly; and thank customers as they leave. Other related duties may be assigned. The role requires a dependable, customer-focused team member who can work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The physical requirements include lifting and carrying products weighing up to 30 pounds and moving grocery carts with both hands, as described in the qualifications.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Have previous experience in a retail, customer service, or sales environment.
Have a positive attitude and the ability to interact positively with customers.
Be able to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Have good communication skills and the ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
Be able to lift and carry products weighing up to 30 pounds horizontally and vertically, from 36 inches to 24 inches, for up to 3 feet and up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Be able to use both hands to move grocery carts horizontally with a force of up to 35 pounds, for up to 4 feet and up to 50 hours.
Have strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers, cash handling, and mathematical skills.

Nice To Haves

One to two years of cashier experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee self-checkout units and provide prompt, friendly service to ensure customer satisfaction.
Assist customers with scanning, weighing, bagging, and paying for their items.
Serve multiple customers at once and anticipate potential issues.
Answer questions and help resolve issues involving large items, scanning or weighing, and payment.
Monitor scanning activity to ensure accuracy.
Invite customers to use self-checkout lanes, especially when lines are forming in other lanes.
Maintain knowledge of weekly ad items, promotions, and events, and direct customers to products throughout the store.
Keep self-checkout areas clean and orderly and perform other related duties as assigned.
Thank customers as they leave the self-checkout area.
