About The Position

As a Self-Checkout Host at Sprouts Farmers Market, you are the face of the company, delivering exceptional customer service while customers scan and pay for their own baskets. You oversee self-checkout units and help customers scan, weigh, bag, and pay for their items, ensuring a smooth and seamless process. You serve multiple customers at once, anticipate and resolve issues, monitor scanning accuracy, and maintain a clean and orderly self-checkout area. You also direct customers to self-checkout when other lanes have lines, answer questions, share information about weekly ads, promotions, and events, help customers locate products, and thank them as they leave. The role calls for a positive, customer-focused team member who can work in a fast-paced environment, operate front-end equipment, handle cash and numbers accurately, and adapt to a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays. The position also involves lifting and carrying products and moving grocery carts within the stated physical limits.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Have previous experience in a retail, customer service, or sales environment.
Have a positive attitude and the ability to interact positively with customers.
Be able to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Have good communication skills and the ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
Be able to lift and carry products horizontally and vertically weighing up to 30 lbs., from 36 inches to 24 inches, for a distance of up to 3 feet for up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Be able to use both hands to move grocery carts horizontally with a force of up to 35 lbs., for a distance of up to 4 feet for up to 50 hours.
Have strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers, cash handling, and mathematical skills.

Responsibilities

Oversee self-checkout units and provide prompt, friendly service to ensure customer satisfaction.
Assist customers as they scan, weigh, bag, and pay for their items.
Serve multiple customers at once and anticipate issues before they occur.
Answer questions and assist with large items, scanning or weighing issues, payment issues, and other problems.
Monitor scanning activity to ensure accuracy.
Invite customers to use self-checkout lanes, especially when lines are forming in other lanes.
Maintain knowledge of weekly ad items, promotions, and events, and direct customers to products throughout the store.
Keep self-checkout areas clean and orderly and perform other related duties as assigned.
Thank customers as they leave the self-checkout area.
