About The Position

As a Self-Checkout Host at Sprouts Farmers Market, you are the face of the company, delivering exceptional customer service while customers scan and self-pay for their baskets. You oversee self-checkout units and assist customers throughout the scanning, weighing, bagging, and payment process to ensure a smooth experience. You serve multiple customers, anticipate and resolve issues, monitor scanning accuracy, and maintain a clean and orderly self-checkout area. You also direct customers to self-checkout when other lanes are forming, answer questions about products and promotions, and thank customers as they leave.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Have previous experience in retail, customer service, or sales.
Have a positive attitude and the ability to interact positively with customers.
Be able to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
Be dependable and reliable, and able to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Have good communication skills and the ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
Be able to lift or carry products weighing up to 30 pounds, horizontally or vertically from 36 inches to 24 inches, for a distance of up to 3 feet, for up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
Be able to use both hands to move grocery carts horizontally, requiring a force of up to 35 pounds, for a distance of up to 4 feet, for up to 50 hours.
Have strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers, cash handling, and mathematical skills.

Nice To Haves

One to two years of cashier experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee self-checkout units and provide prompt, friendly service to ensure customer satisfaction.
Assist customers as they scan, weigh, bag, and pay for items.
Serve multiple customers at once and anticipate issues before they occur.
Answer questions and resolve issues involving large items, scanning or weighing, and payment.
Monitor scanning activity to ensure accuracy.
Invite customers to use self-checkout, especially when lines are forming in other lanes.
Maintain knowledge of weekly ad items, promotions, and events, and direct customers to products throughout the store.
Keep self-checkout areas clean and orderly and perform other related duties as assigned.
Thank customers as they leave the self-checkout area.
