About The Position

As a Self-Checkout Host at Sprouts Farmers Market, you are the face of the company, delivering exceptional customer service while customers scan and pay for their own items. You oversee self-checkout units, help customers use them smoothly, and maintain a clean and orderly checkout area. The role involves assisting multiple customers, monitoring scanning accuracy, answering questions, promoting self-checkout when other lanes have lines, and helping customers find products and learn about weekly promotions. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous experience in a retail, customer service, or sales environment.
• Positive attitude and ability to interact positively with customers.
• Ability to operate front-end equipment, including a register, calculator, and scanner.
• Dependability and reliability, with the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Good communication skills and ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
• Ability to lift or carry product horizontally or vertically, weighing up to 30 lbs. from 36” to 24”, for a distance up to 3 feet for up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
• Ability to use both hands to move grocery carts horizontally, requiring a force up to 35 lbs. for a distance up to 4 feet for up to 50 hours.
• Strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers, cash handling, and mathematical skills.

Nice To Haves

• 1–2 years of cashier experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee self-checkout units and provide prompt, friendly service to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Assist customers as they scan, weigh, bag, and pay for items.
• Serve multiple customers at once and anticipate issues before they occur.
• Answer questions and resolve issues related to large items, scanning, weighing, or payment.
• Monitor scanning activity to ensure accuracy.
• Invite customers to use self-checkout, especially when lines are forming in other lanes.
• Maintain knowledge of weekly ad items, promotions, and events, and direct customers to products throughout the store.
• Keep self-checkout areas clean and orderly and perform other related duties as assigned.
• Thank customers as they leave the self-checkout area.
