Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and professional experience in audience segmentation, data governance, database management, marketing operations, or a related field; relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Experience with a constituent relationship management system such as Salesforce CRM, or a marketing automation platform such as Oracle Eloqua, SFMC, or Salesforce Data Cloud.
  • Familiarity with higher education or similarly highly matrixed and complex organizations.
  • Proven ability to build complex segments, shared filters, and dynamic lists, including contact-level versus account-level logic, marketing automation or journey audience steps, and suppression/compliance handling such as unsubscribes and global exclusions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver accurate, timely audience segments for senior-level stakeholders, including high-profile events where precision, confidentiality, and quick turnaround are critical.
  • Experience handling sensitive donor or VIP data with sound judgment and clear communication about timelines, counts, and trade-offs.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to design and maintain dashboards, such as Tableau or Salesforce reports, to visualize audience size, engagement, and conversion, and to blend CRM and marketing automation data into actionable insights.
  • Experience translating business goals into audience definitions, such as lapsed donors, prospects, or alumni by affinity or engagement tier, with SQL or comparable query skills for validating counts and troubleshooting data discrepancies.
  • Track record of upholding data-quality and privacy/communication-preference standards, including CAN-SPAM and GDPR, for large organizations.
  • Ability to partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders across marketing, communications, fundraising, events, reporting, and data operations, and communicate audience and data needs clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and enforce standards for segment definitions, naming, and documentation.
  • Partner with segment owners and users across the PO, UMAC, AGP, UEE, PTGR, Lead Gen, and other campus units to implement and maintain consistent segmentation practices.
  • Ensure segments are properly defined, tracked, maintained, and retired when no longer needed.
  • Audit existing segments for duplication, outdated information, and compliance with SPUR and Eloqua guidelines.
  • Define, monitor, and report on segment-related KPIs to evaluate data quality, audience performance, and adherence to governance standards.
  • Investigate and report on the data, eligibility criteria, and business rules that determine why individuals are included in or excluded from email and other communications.
  • Identify segment risks and coordinate corrective action with segment owners to reduce data-quality issues, donor fatigue, deliverability problems, and inconsistent campaign reporting.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Competitive benefits package, including insurance and retirement benefits, as well as other programs and services.
  • Professional development opportunities.
