About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Officer for foot patrol at a shopping center in Costa Mesa, California. The role provides a fixed weekly shift at an assigned site, with a six-month commitment, and the option to claim additional shifts through the company scheduling platform. Additional shifts can allow hours to vary up to 40 per week, with the option to scale back. The position pays $19.00 per hour and is scheduled Sunday from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

The Security Officer serves shoppers, tenants, and visitors by carrying out security procedures and site-specific policies, responding to incidents, and patrolling the retail property. The role may include emergency response activities when appropriate, along with access control and visitor assistance. A guard card or license is preferred. Applicants must meet the stated age and education requirements and are subject to a background investigation and drug screen, as permitted by law.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
• Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
• Meet any applicable state or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to shoppers, tenants, and visitors while carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies.
• Participate in emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations, using problem-solving skills.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of retail common areas, parking areas, exterior entrances, and perimeter locations.
• Observe and report unusual activity, property concerns, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Assist with access control, visitor inquiries, and guest directions while maintaining a professional presence.
