Security Officer Foot Patrol Shopping Center
About The Position
Allied Universal is hiring a part-time, unarmed Security Officer for foot patrol at a retail and mall location in Costa Mesa, California. The role involves safeguarding shoppers, tenants, visitors, staff, and the property through patrols, monitoring, incident response, and customer service. The schedule is Saturday and Sunday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Pay is $19.00 per hour. Applicants must be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles and have a high school diploma or equivalent. A guard card or license is preferred. Employment is subject to a background investigation and, where permitted by law, a drug screen. Licensing requirements depend on applicable state and local laws. A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only. Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Undergo a background investigation as a condition of employment.
- Undergo a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
- Meet applicable state and/or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.
- A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to shoppers, tenants, visitors, and staff by following security procedures and location-specific policies and participating in emergency response activities when appropriate.
- Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, customer concerns, and critical situations, coordinating with management or local emergency responders as needed.
- Conduct regular and random foot or vehicle patrols throughout the retail property, including common areas, storefronts, parking areas, and perimeter locations.
- Monitor for security concerns, policy violations, hazardous conditions, and suspicious activity; document observations and report them through established procedures.
- Assist with access control, directions, lost-and-found inquiries, and other customer service needs while helping deter unauthorized activity.
