About The Position

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the overall security of an assigned facility by enforcing access control and observing, correcting, and reporting violations of applicable rules and regulations. The officer is expected to integrate Sizemore’s core values of Flexibility, Improvement, Reliability, Safety, and Teamwork into daily work. Work takes place in a climate-controlled building and/or outdoors in varying weather conditions. The position involves extensive walking, standing, and sitting; possible exposure to threatening situations, bloodborne pathogens, and bodily fluids; and the ability to lift 50 pounds. The prescribed uniform must conceal tattoos, and tattoos on the head, face, neck, or hands are not allowed. Facial piercings must be removed while on duty, facial hair must be clean-shaven except for a mustache, and hair must be clean, neatly trimmed, and a natural color. Continued employment depends on passing a criminal background check, a clean MVR check if driving, employment verification, and pre-employment and random employment drug screens.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school graduate or GED recipient.
Demonstrate service and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor.
Show patience, tact, enthusiasm, and diplomacy when dealing with others.
Use initiative and sound judgment when evaluating and responding to situations.
Ability to multitask and work under pressure in potentially stressful, time-sensitive situations.
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize.
Ability to work with minimum supervision, read and comprehend detailed instructions, and process information accurately and clearly.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Pass a criminal background check, employment verification, and pre-employment and random employment drug screens; pass a clean MVR check if driving.
Comply with the stated uniform, tattoo, piercing, facial-hair, and hair requirements.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in security, military, or law enforcement.
Proficiency with MS Office programs.

Responsibilities

Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel.
Document security activity in a Daily Activity Report (DAR) and complete incident reports as required.
Control vehicle and personnel access according to established procedures.
Respond to emergency situations according to established procedures.
Operate specialized equipment as needed, including Closed-Circuit Television Systems, vehicle scales, and computer systems.
Help prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities and informing violators of policies and procedures.
Identify projects to increase effectiveness and efficiency and support a culture of continuous improvement.
Enforce Sizemore’s and the client’s policies and procedures.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
