About The Position

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the overall security of the assigned facility by enforcing access control and observing, correcting, and reporting violations of applicable rules and regulations. The officer is expected to support and integrate Sizemore’s core values of Flexibility, Improvement, Reliability, Safety, and Teamwork into daily work. Work takes place in a climate-controlled building and/or outdoors in various weather conditions. The position requires extensive walking, standing, and sitting; may involve threatening situations and exposure to bloodborne pathogens or bodily fluids; and requires the ability to lift 50 pounds. Uniform and grooming rules require tattoos to be concealed, prohibit tattoos on the head, face, neck, or hands, require removal of facial piercings while on duty, and require clean-shaven facial hair except for a mustache, with clean, neatly trimmed, naturally colored hair. Continued employment depends on passing a criminal background check, employment verification, and pre-employment and random employment drug screens. A clean motor vehicle record is required if driving.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school graduate or GED recipient.
Demonstrate commitment to service and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor.
Show patience, tact, enthusiasm, and diplomacy when dealing with people in any circumstances.
Exercise initiative and sound judgment when evaluating and responding to situations.
Ability to multitask and work under pressure in potentially stressful and time-sensitive situations.
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, read and comprehend detailed instructions, and process information accurately and clearly.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to perform extensive walking, standing, and sitting and lift 50 pounds.
Meet uniform and grooming requirements, including concealing tattoos, removing facial piercings while on duty, and maintaining the stated facial-hair and hair standards.
Pass a criminal background check, employment verification, and pre-employment and random employment drug screens; pass a clean motor vehicle record check if driving.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in security, military, or law enforcement.

Responsibilities

Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel.
Document security activity in a Daily Activity Report (DAR) and complete incident reports as required.
Control vehicle and personnel access in accordance with established procedures.
Respond to emergency situations in accordance with established procedures.
Operate specialized equipment as needed, including closed-circuit television systems, vehicle scales, and computer systems.
Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities and informing violators of policies and procedures.
Identify projects to increase effectiveness and efficiency and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Enforce Sizemore’s and the client’s policies and procedures.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
